1. What's X-Lite?
X-Lite is a software used to place and receive VoIP calls, usually
knows as softphone. You just need to install this program and configure
it in a VoIP provider like StarTel, to start receiving and placing
calls.

3. How do I configure my
StarTel account in X-Lite?
You just need to follow the manual.
4. Is X-Lite better than
Skype?
X-Lite is used in VoIP networks where people can call each other
freely. When you use Skype, you can just call for free inside your
network, when you call other networks (even to other VoIP networks)
you need to pay.
X-Lite is server independent and allows the registration
in more than one server. The users of free VoIP networks like StarTel
can choose their Client software (X-Lite, SJPhone, eyeBeam). This
freedom of choice is very important because different programs have
different functionalities, and you can choose the one that suites
best in your PC, PDA or GSM phone, without having to change your
address.
5. How do I know if X-Lite
is registered?
When X-Lite is registered you can see the message"Ready"
written in te top of the program.
6. How do I configure X-Lite
to run when Windows starts?
In X-Lite press the right mouse button and choose "Options".
Then choose "Launch when Windows starts".
We advise you to let X-Lite start automatically in Windows startup,
because this software uses little memory and this way you are always
ready to receive and place calls.
7. I can't hear sound.
Is the problem in my computer configuration?
To check your computer sound configuration you should click you
the right mouse button in X-Lite and choose "Options".
Then go to "Devices" and check if you are using the correct
Speaker and Microphone.
8. I still can't hear sound.
Could it be a network problem?
Try calling the echo test: 351210329169
If you can hear your echo, then you shouldn't have any problem.
9. How do I place calls?
Should I use numbers or addresses?
You can place calls with numbers (if you want to call a conventional
phone) or with URIs (name@startel.pt).
